September 2024 Newsletter

Dear

Phenomenal

Wonderous

Amazing members!

Welcome back our cherished long-standing members, and a warm welcome to those who have recently joined the  PWA family.

We are thrilled to have so many new members, each bringing a wealth of experience, talent, and diverse cultural perspectives to our community.  On the next page you can read a brief introduction of who these inspirational women are.

Our long-standing members have been the foundation of our organization, driving our ongoing professional and personal growth.

The board has been hard at work this summer, and we have exciting updates to share.

To begin, you'll notice our newly redesigned PWA logo at the top of this newsletter. After nearly two decades, we've retired the old logo in favor of a modern design that better reflects who we are today.

The Idea Behind the New Logo

Our new logo features an inspirational woman standing gracefully on a crescent moon, symbolizing growth and creativity. With her arms raised towards the sky, she embodies happiness and empowerment. The energy radiating from her outstretched arms represents inspiration and abundance. We hope you love this new symbol as much as we do!

We’re excited to continue our InspireHer culture and theme. While the new website isn’t ready yet, here’s a sneak peek to share with you now.

Improvements On The New Website

In a few weeks we will launch our long anticipated new website which will provide our members with more added value membership features such as:

Private log in and membership directory

Access to all member contacts, emails and phone numbers to network more efficiently and effectively.

Dedicated job board

Our dedicated job board will allow members to post job opportunities or browse through available positions tailored to our community.

 Streamlined event registration and payment

Register and pay for events more easily and quickly online using your credit card. PayPal will still be available, but we will no longer accept online bank transfers (bonifico).

We will have a new PWA video that will be posted on our website and other social media. This should be ready in a few weeks.

We are re launching our shadowing and mentoring programs.  We have a dedicated group of volunteers who will be helping with this program. Stay tuned for details.

We will have a private tour for members who want to take a behind scenes visit  of the Bank of Italy and aperitif in October as well as another guided tour and aperitif planned for November.

I would like to thank all previous PWA board members and volunteers who have taken us this far.  We look forward to continuing the momentum that has been created and want to thank all of you for your continued support, dedication and love for this association.

Wishing you a year ahead filled with success, inspiration and new opportunities.

See you on the 18th of September on the terrace of the Six Senses Hotel!

 Stay inspired!

 Catherine and the PWA board

 WELCOME NEW MEMBERS!

Each month, we will highlight our new PWA members. These incredible, diverse and vibrant woman are what make our community so special. Join us in giving a warm welcome to ten of our new members for the 2024-2025 PWA year!

I am very happy to join PWA’s community. It’s a real pleasure to be part of this Association which activity I ve been very well known as follower for a long time.

As many of you already know, I've been working in the Italian Central Bank Banca d’Italia where firstly I was involved in banking supervision than in international tax matters and in financial consumer protection. Last February I was appointed as Head of the Main Regional Roman Branch of Banca d’Italia (the first woman in the branch of Rome).

I am a lawyer (not in practice) and also graduated in with a degree in Sociology from the University La Sapienza of Rome. Passionate about gender equality issues, I follow many international women communities. I have been a volunteer for the Red Cross for ten years. My favorite sport is horse riding, but I always prefer friends to horses!

Owner and Fashion designer at DAG PACE- Uber luxury and Special projects director at Christian Dior.

I'm fond of fashion and costumes for social and economic reflections.

Mine is a quest for elegance, proportions and quality that will last forever: the "fil rouge" of my professional life.

I have gained a great deal of experience over the years and I am interested in a consultancy role within the luxury field, in parallel to my current career path.

I think that fashion world has enormously changed in recent times and our thoughts need to be updated about methods and mode. Therefore I'm looking for new professional figures that may be in the stages of change and form.

Because life is a magnificent challenge when you are driven by passion and in pursuit of excellence.

My name is Tiziana Galloni and I am Head of the Cash Management and Back Office unit in the Treasury Division of IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development, one of the three Rome-based UN Agencies). I have been working at IFAD for nearly 40 years, always in the Treasury Division, covering various roles and I am covering Head of Cash Management since 2012. I am member of the Business Continuity Institute, and I have experience/certifications in various cash management technical fields.

My background in a Master-level in Mathematics (University la Sapienza Rome) and a MBA by St. John’s University. I am particularly interested and involved in supporting NGOs and I am currently Treasurer of the IFAD Staff Help Fund (a small association, non-legal entity, supporting small scale projects for education in developing countries) and President of Rotary Club Roma Campidoglio (one of the Rotary Clubs in Rome).

I love sports (I have played table-tennis and volley in my youth) and practice both running and tennis. I am passionate about arts and love to read, go to exhibitions, theatre, movies. I am also part of a women-only informal professional network in the UN, called Women Informal Network (UN), which wants to create connections for professional women in the development sector and offer opportunities for dialogue on policies or issues which are relevant to women professional development.

I am eager to learn from PWA what your activities are, learn from all of you and, if you wish, share my experiences.

I am delighted to be part of this thriving community! I’m nearly 50 years old on next August (ahimè!). My family is from a beautiful town close to the most popular ancient roman sites of Pompei and Ercolano in Campania, but I’ve been living in Rome since 2005.

I have an education in Maths and Philosophy and a degree in Economics achieved at Federico II University in Naples. After graduation, I moved to Milan where I worked for a bank and then joined Eni, the Italian worldwide oil company. Here, I have served in a variety of roles, currently in the Audit department as fraud and anti-corruption senior professional.

Three words are mostly representative of myself beyond the work: sport, art and traveling; interests I try to nurture in my spare time with great engagement and satisfaction. I do love doing things with passion, deep engagement and knowledge, I believe in sincere human relationships based on respect, inclusion and love. I am happy to join PWA to share my overall experiences, meet new professionals and enrich my personal and professional network and skills.

My motto is: it's always the time to learn!

I eager know all the extraordinary ladies of PWA.

A jewelry designer since 1987, I express my passion for design through a profound observation of the world that surrounds us, perceiving objects beyond their appearance, revealing their innermost secrets.

Growing up among the architectural marvels in the center of Rome, where she still lives, the life of Gioia Capolei has been enriched by tales of a lineage which includes musicians, singers, and painters. Through the years, many artists came and went through her home. Listening to their reveries was like hearing a fairy tale, letting the mind and fantasy run wild as the imagination takes its flight.

Surrounded by pencils, tracing paper, and colors, Gioia Capolei has absorbed these objects and gestures, refining her creative skills as she took stock of her world
