Dora brings over 35 years of freelance experience as a language service provider. She is a certified technical translator and interpreter, managing Your Technical Translation Boutique in Rome. Passionate about languages since childhood, she had aspired to learn every language spoken on the planet. Although it didn't quite turn out that way, she still believes it's only a matter of time. Currently she’s tackling German, setting her sights on the north and beyond. Her career in the language industry began with a BA in Translation and Interpreting and an MA in Foreign Languages and Literatures. Her first assignment was as a freelance interpreter at ILVA Iron and Steel Works in her hometown of Taranto, in southern Italy. During this time, she also worked for various ancillary companies in the steel sector, as well as local translation agencies and private clients. Additionally, she was a registered sworn translator and court interpreter, providing language services to the Court of Taranto. Eager for a new business experience, she moved to Milan and worked for the Norwegian Ship Classification Society for three years. Love however brought her to Rome, where she built her family had a beautiful daughter and founded her own technical translation boutique. Since then, alongside serving international corporate clients, investment banks, engineering firms, and translation agencies with her language services, and translating over 120 technical articles regularly published in a bilingual sector magazine, she has been a dedicated mom, cherishing the experience of growing together with her daughter, and an advocate for women. Now that her daughter has moved to Germany to study engineering at university, she finds herself with much more free time. She’s excited to immerse herself in PWA’s international community and is excited to be part of the dynamic PWA board. |
